The aim of "Project AgroChallenge":

The project aim is to commercially perform a complete global CO2 reset (our definition to preliminary ~300 ppm) in the atmosphere within the time available by a fully sun driven photosynthetic fixation of the fossil C present in the atmosphere now causing the initial phases of the global warming.

The intension is to start up the project during 2010.

After an initial scientific world group has been founded the logistic C sequestration program is intended to start immediately - if a majority of the global scientific advisors gathered at the conference in September 2010 agree to that.

 

Photosynthesis top crop in the northern temperate climate zone:

Modern EU certified drugfree and monoiceous hemp cultivars gives on several soils in Scandinaia 20 - 30 ton dry matter/ha in one year up to the polar circle if it is sown and fertilized according to the recommendations at www.bionic.nu . This is a subsidized crop within EU both for sequestering and producing CO2 neutral forms of solid and liquid fuels. www.reacfuel.com is one of the companies focused on this hemp as a raw material to produce CO2 neutral liquid fuels for the transporting sector.

EU accept cultivars with a lower THC content than 0,2% THC to be grown legally. Only certified seed is sown during extremely efficient triple control within EU. The crop is also favoring game ranging. Above is seen the cultivar "Fedora 17" a French cultivar tested with excellent result in Sweden. The biomass production from the most efficient annual crops are thereby producing ~10 times higher than what the forests produce annually in Scandinavian climate up to the polar circle. 

An annual crop with a dry matter biomass of 30 tonnes /ha has silently fixed over 50 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere in just one season.

 

In the mediterranian climate region we strongly believe Sorghum bicolor is an ideal crop. It has given over 50 tonnes of dry matter/ ha annually in e g Italy.

 

In the tropicaql region sugarcane(Sacharum officinarum) is one of the most photosynthetically efficient crops, but there are other crops as well like elephant grasses of the genuses Miscanthus and Pennisetum. Under ideal management, nutritional and irrigated conditions we estimate these crops to have a yield potential of at least 70 tonnes of dry matter/ha annually. This is a true "agro-challenge" for mankind.

- But from where comes the irrigation water ?

Mauritius appears to be a world leader on householding with rain water. Advanced systems are currently collecting rainwater in big ponds and using it in enormous pivots with several hundred meters of pivot arms wandering in the fields.
